The African Library Project

Our hearts are full with pride and joy! Our community came together, in collaboration with the Parent Association, to spearhead a special project during National Reading Month.

One of our very own students, Ethan L., worked with the African Library Project in past years, and with his family built over four new libraries across Africa. Ethan is a passionate global citizen who has a vision for extending his reach and raising broader awareness about the power of books. So he shared the initiative with peers and collaborated with our Parent Association Co-Chair, Christina, to bring this project to our parent community. The collaboration organized book drives, encouraging their peers to donate, and spreading awareness about the project within the school community. Our second through fifth grade students were so inspired that they also created bookmarks with inspirational messages and drawings to send along with the books.

We are proud to share that our collective efforts to build another library resulted in over 1,300 books being donated! The donated books along with more than 200 personalized bookmarks are now set to embark on a journey to Ghana. This campaign not only exceeded our expectations for the number of books to collect, but also highlighted the collective efforts of our school community in fostering a love for reading and learning around the world.

This community project serves as a shining example of the positive change that can be initiated by young minds with a passion for making a difference!
